Junior QA + DevOps Engineer

We are looking for a Junior QA + DevOps Engineer who can contribute to manual application testing while also supporting deployments and operational activities on Linux environments. The ideal candidate should be comfortable testing REST APIs, validating data in relational databases, using Python for utilities or test support, and coordinating releases with development and operations teams.


Responsibilities:

  • Understand functional requirements and prepare test scenarios, test cases, test data, and execution results.
  • Perform manual functional, regression, integration, smoke, and sanity testing of web and backend applications.
  • Test REST APIs using tools such as Postman or equivalent and validate request/response payloads, HTTP status codes, authentication, error handling, and business rules.
  • Validate application data using SQL queries in MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Use Python for small utilities, test-data preparation, log processing, API test helpers, or automation of repetitive QA tasks.
  • Support application deployments on Linux servers and perform post-deployment smoke checks and log validation.
  • Work with Unix/Linux commands for file operations, process checks, service validation, log analysis, and environment verification.
  • Log defects with clear reproduction steps, evidence, severity, and expected versus actual behaviour.
  • Coordinate closely with developers for defect verification and with operations teams during releases.
  • Maintain test evidence, release checklists, deployment notes, and QA documentation.


Requirements:

  • 1-2 years of experience in software QA, testing, support, DevOps, or a combined role.
  • Good understanding of manual software testing concepts and defect lifecycle.
  • Hands-on experience testing REST APIs using Postman or similar tools.
  • Working knowledge of Python and ability to write basic scripts.
  • Good SQL knowledge with exposure to MySQL and Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Basic Unix/Linux exposure, including commands, files, permissions, logs, processes, and shell environment.
  • Ability to support and validate deployments on Linux environments.
  • Good analytical, communication, and documentation skills.


Good to Have:

  • Basic shell scripting knowledge.
  • Exposure to Git, Jenkins or another CI/CD tool.
  • Understanding of JSON, XML, HTTP/HTTPS, authentication, and API security concepts.
  • Exposure to Java-based applications, Tomcat, Nginx/Apache, or application monitoring.
  • Basic automation testing exposure using Python-based or API testing frameworks.


Preferred Attributes:

  • Strong attention to detail and ownership of test quality.
  • Comfortable switching between testing and deployment-support activities.
  • Methodical troubleshooting approach and willingness to work collaboratively across teams.
