In this project, your clinical judgment will help assess whether inpatient documentation and related claims are supported by the available medical record. The work is remote and contributes directly to improving AI systems used to reason about clinical information.

The Role

OpenTrain is seeking a Hospitalist Physician to review inpatient medical records and documentation for an AI training project focused on clinical accuracy and documentation standards. You will evaluate FHIR data, clinical notes, claims, and other raw medical record information using your current or recent hospital-based experience.

This is a remote, part-time contractor opportunity requiring 20 or more hours per week. The listed compensation range is $70 to $100 per hour, paid in USD.

What You’ll Do

You will make careful, consistent assessments of inpatient documentation and communicate findings clearly to the project team. Your reviews will support both AI model improvement and the quality of the underlying clinical data.

  • Review FHIR data, clinical notes, claims, and other inpatient medical records for AI training.
  • Assess whether clinical information and claims are supported by the medical record.
  • Evaluate HPI, PMH, assessments, and plans against consistent documentation guidelines.
  • Identify missing, incorrect, or inconsistent information in clinical records.
  • Provide clear feedback that supports AI model improvement and data quality.
  • Communicate review findings and decisions clearly to the project team.

Required Qualifications

This role requires a physician with formal medical credentials and current or recent inpatient experience. You should be comfortable working with detailed clinical notes, raw medical record data, hospital workflows, and structured review guidelines.

  • MD or DO degree.
  • Board certification in Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, or Hospital Medicine.
  • Current or recent inpatient or hospitalist experience within the last two years.
  • Strong knowledge of inpatient documentation, hospital workflows, and clinical records.
  • Ability to determine whether clinical information and claims are supported by medical documentation.
  • Strong attention to detail and the ability to apply review guidelines consistently.
