Furniture and Joinery Drafter
Role Description The Furniture and Joinery Drafter is a full-time, on-site role based in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. The role includes preparing detailed shop drawings for custom furniture and joinery, including plans, elevations, sections, and detailed joinery connections. The drafter will translate design concepts and sketches into accurate, buildable technical drawings as well as 3D imagery, while coordinating closely with interior designers, architects, and the production team.
Day-to-day tasks include reviewing project requirements, refining details for manufacturing, updating drawings based on feedback, and ensuring alignment with material specifications and production methods. The role also involves maintaining drawing standards, preparing documentation for production, and supporting quality control by reviewing drawings against finished pieces.
Qualifications
- Strong technical skills in furniture and joinery drafting
- Skills in Architecture and Interior Design, with the ability to interpret design intent and translate concepts into precise technical drawings.
- Experience in Space Planning and FF&E, ensuring practical layouts, appropriate proportions, and accurate furniture specifications.
- Proficiency in CAD and/or relevant 3D drafting software (e.g., AutoCAD, SketchUp, Revit, or similar) for detailed furniture and joinery documentation.
- Knowledge of materials and fabrication methods, particularly solid wood, metal, and stone, and an understanding of workshop and site coordination.
- Strong attention to detail, organization, and time management, with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines.
- Effective communication and collaboration skills for working with designers, production teams, and external partners.
- Prior experience in a joinery, furniture, or fit-out environment
