Category Manager - Private Labels, Amazon Now (AE)

DESCRIPTION

Amazon Now, Amazon UAE's quick commerce offering, is looking for a Category Manager to operate as a single threaded business owner for private label / white label space across categories with special focus on fresh produce, perishable and grocery portfolio. This is a high-ownership leadership role at the intersection of category strategy, P&L management, and selection development for one of Amazon's fastest-growing businesses in MENA. The leader will own end-to-end category outcomes — driving margin improvement, building a differentiated and hyper-local private label / white label selection, premium offerings, and scaling instant consumption verticals. The role requires working backwards from customer needs in a sub-15-minute delivery paradigm, while partnering deeply with internal teams of vendor management, selection, pricing, instock, legal and tech teams to shape the category's long-term trajectory. The ideal candidate combines strong commercial acumen, structured problem-solving, and the ability to influence senior stakeholders and cross-functional teams in a fast-moving, ambiguous environment. You will collaborate with cross-functional partners, translate data into actionable plans, and build lasting vendor relationships that fuel long-term growth. Key job responsibilities

  1. Build effective Category strategies in the private label / white label space across categories with special focus on fresh produce, perishable and grocery portfolio
  2. Identify and evaluate new category and product opportunities aligned with quick commerce growth mandate.
  3. Develop category roadmaps, business cases, P&L models, pricing strategies, and go-to-market plans.
  4. Evaluate private labels from other Amazon marketplaces and bring them to AE post building local relevance
  5. Lead end-to-end new product development and commercialization through stage-gate processes.
  6. Monitor competitive and market dynamics (assortment, pricing, share) and translate insights into actionable category interventions.
  7. Manage external partners, co-manufacturers, suppliers, research agencies, and strategic partners.
  8. Liaising with manufacturer Formulation & Packaging for New product and packaging developments
  9. Track revenue, profitability, market share, launch performance, and ROI and recommend corrective actions.
  10. Author high-quality business documents (strategy papers, business reviews, investment proposals, leadership escalations) and represent the category in senior leadership forums.

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's degree in Management, Business Administration, Economics, Engineering, or Marketing
  • Experience that includes strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and effective communication abilities
  • Experience in Retail, FMCG (Fast-Moving Consumer Goods), or a client/vendor-facing environment such as sales or negotiation
  • 5+ years of FMCG experience in Category Development, Product Development, Innovation, Portfolio, or Brand Management.
  • Strong exposure to Brand Management, New Product Launches, Media Planning and Market Research
  • Proven experience launching and commercializing new categories, products, or brands.
  • Strong expertise in market assessment, consumer insights, category strategy, pricing, commercialization, and financial modelling.
  • Experience working with co-manufacturers, suppliers, and external strategic partners.
  • Strong commercial acumen, analytical skills, stakeholder management, and project leadership.
  • Develop annual marketing plans and coordinate their successful implementation and to grow and achieve both short- and long-term sales, profit, and market share position for assigned

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Experience working with technical and product stakeholders to define requirements, prioritize features, and influence product roadmaps
  • MBA in relevant field of operations
  • Experience influencing multiple stakeholders and leading cross functional teams across geographies and business units
  • 5+ years of experience in a Food & Beverage FMCG
